A course where you will learn foundation cake decorating techniques with a small class size. Throughout the course you will learn countless hints and tips in this class that you can apply to your future cake decorating projects. This course teaches traditional methods of sugar craft and does not include buttercream techniques. Class starts Wednesday 23rd October 2024 at 10am Classes run for approximately 2.5 hours each week for 6 weeks CLASS DATES: 23/10, 30/10, 6/11, 13/11, 20/11, 27/11 In this class you will learn to: - Make traditional royal icing by hand - Pipe: dots, lines, loops, snail trail, forget-me-not flowers, transfers - Decorate biscuits and become confident using different consistencies of royal icing - Correctly line a cake tin - Bake a traditional fruit cake (our own tried and tested recipe is provided and you will bake your cake at home) - Prepare a cake ready for smooth fondant covering - Cover a cake in fondant - Make a variety of decorations using fondant - Fondant cover and decorate a presentation board for your cake - Use impression mats - Basic modelling skills, make your own cute topper - Balance and colour harmony - Add an edible greeting to your cake $360, A $180 deposit secures your place NEW FOR THIS COURSE *A basic cake decorating set will be included for this course as our gift to you: contains a fondant modelling set, small rolling pin, coupler & 6 icing nozzles, spatula and a whisk. This is a great start for your essential toolkit. RRP $19.50 You are required to bring your own tools and ingredients to these classes. These are often general kitchen items and you will build on your own functional decorating tool kit throughout this course. Cake decorating supplies are available for purchase at our store. A full list of requirements will be provided for you before the class begins. Cost of your supplies estimated around $100-$200 and depends on your choices and what tools you already have. Cancellation Policy
By booking into a class at Caking Mad you agree to the following terms and conditions: - Class deposits are non-refundable if cancelling within 2 weeks of the class date, unless the class is cancelled by Caking Mad. You cannot cancel individual weeks within a multi week course. - Any deposit refunded upon student withdrawal will have a $30 booking fee deducted. - The deposit is only transferrable to another class (expiry 6 months) if you cancel more than 2 weeks before the class date. - If you are no longer able to attend the class you may send a friend/other person in your place (this must be organised by yourself and we ask that you let us know as a courtesy who is coming along in your place) - If you commence one of our term long classes and decide for any reason that you cannot continue or complete the course there will be no refund and no transfer to another term. Refunds will not be given if you miss or cannot attend a lesson. Make up classes will be charged at the rate of a private lesson at a time that is mutually convenient. - Refunds or class transfers are not given for "no shows". It is your responsibility to remember your class booking. Caking Mad will notify you of any changes to the original time schedule. No refund or credit note will be provided in the case of a no-show unless a medical certificate is presented within 3 days of the class date. In this circumstance you will be provided with a Class Credit Note of the value of the class less a $30 fee, to be used on another class of your choosing. - If you do not attend a class for any reason you are not entitled to the class materials, notes, tools, equipment or consumables included for that class. - If for any reason the class is cancelled by Caking Mad you will receive a notification and a full refund. - Minimum numbers are required for a class to go ahead, cancellation is at the discretion of Caking Mad if situation changes due to government direction. You will be contacted at least 24 hours prior to your class for cancellations, or changes. Caking Mad often take photographs during classes which are featured on our website and social media pages. Please let one of our staff members know prior to the class if you do not wish to be photographed. Caking Mad will provide class notes and recipes for many of our classes which are for your use only & not for distribution to others. Likewise, you may take photos during class and take your own notes for your future reference. All students are expected to behave in a polite and considerate manner towards staff and other students. Any student who, in the sole opinion of Caking Mad staff, is in breach of this may be asked to leave the class and will not be refunded the cost of the class. Caking Mad Children’s Classes and Parties – Terms and Conditions Children’s Parties and Private Classes are run similarly to our other Children’s Classes with the addition of the following: - For Private Parties, at least two(2) responsible adults are to remain for the duration of the party/class. - For Kids School Holidays Classes, a responsible adult is required to stay with your child for the duration of the class. We suggest 1 adult per 1 or 2 children works well. - Child discipline, hygiene, toilet duties, and general management of the party are the responsibility of parents/adults attending. At Caking Mad we are responsible for delivering the class material and teaching your children cake decorating techniques. - If an additional staff member of Caking Mad is required for the above duties in a Private Class or Party an additional fee will apply. - Please ensure all children are appropriately dressed. This includes neat, clean clothing, enclosed shoes and long hair tied up. We provide aprons for all students in our classes. - Children between ages 5-18 are welcome to attend our Kids Classes. - Some Adult Classes at Caking Mad are suitable for children aged 12+ when attending with an adult who is also attending the class. Hire Stand Terms & Conditions: As per the hire description a deposit is required to be paid when picking up the cake stand. This will be refunded to you when the stand is returned in good condition. Stands for hire can only be picked up during our normal trading hours. Hire period is for a maximum of 4 days unless otherwise arranged.
